The ASRT is now accepting applications for the 2015 Student Leadership Development Program.

 

Students are encouraged to apply for this unique experience where you will be given the opportunity to get to know the ASRT, attend educational sessions and network with medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals. 

2 MSRT students will be selected by a panel of MSRT board appointed judges, and winners will be notified on January 30, 2015. Winners will be attending the 2015 ASRT Educational Symposium and Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting, June 25-28, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, as well as orientation the evening of June 24.

Included:

-Airfare, housing, stipend for meals and other travel expenses

-An educational program designed just for students

-A professional mentor assigned for the meeting

An insider's look in to the largest association for medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals

 

How to apply:

Students must apply by December 19th, 2014.  Please apply on the ASRT site!

Application includes a 500-700 word essay.

Must provide proof of MSRT membership (print online profile sheet off MSRT website for verification).

Its that time of year! Time for the annual Membership drive. Take advantage of the great opportunity to spread the word about the MSRT during the month of November and National Rad Tech Week. If you are not yet an MSRT member join now to take advantage of the opportunities that MRST offers. Look for the great incentives for the Membership drive via your email! 

Thank you to all who attended the Annual Meeting and Fall Conference this last weekend in St Cloud MN. I hope you found it to be educational and informative. Special thanks to Colleen Brady Santwire for her years of service on the executive board, and to the entire conference committee for all the time, energy and effort it takes to organize a conference.  I look forward to working with current board members and all the newly elected members and committee chairs.

MSRT representatives! 

The Annual MSRT Budget Planning meeting is Friday, July 18th at 4:oopm at Minnesota Valley Health Care Center Hospital Conference Room.

The next Executive Board meeting will be Friday, July 18th at 6:30pm at the Minnesota Valley Health Care Center Hospital Conference Room.

The January 16th, 2014 meeting minutes were approved by the board on April 11th, 2014, and are attached.

Our previously named MARS President Grant Thorstad has unfortunately stepped down from his position as MARS President.  He has chosen a different career path.  Fortunately, we had a great runner up who is now name the MARS President-Kally Marquardt!  Kally is a radiography student at Mayo School of Health Sciences.

The 76th MSRT Annual Meeting and Fall Conference will be Friday, September 5th-Saturday, September 6th, 2014 at the St Cloud River's Edge Convention Center and Kelly Inn.  More information to come later this summer regarding the educational offerings.  Watch the website for more details.

Sandra Sellner-Wee, instructor of radiography at Riverland Community College gives her students the benefit of the creative variety of teaching methods she uses to teach theory and practice. Connecting with students in innovative ways to enhance learning is a strength she wields with ease, employing a range of methods and tools in her varied and developing approaches to teaching. As a student notes, “She always puts her students first and recognizes the importance of proper training and knowledge to ready us for the workforce.” After graduating with an associate’s degree in radiography from the Mayo School of Health-Related Science and Rochester Community College, Sellner-Wee earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of St. Francis. She is board certified in radiography and mammography, and has worked in several specialty radiography fields for over 26 years.
