Following the successful completion of this year’s MARS Spring Seminar, the educators have voted to update the election timeline for student leadership. The next MARS President will be elected during the MSRT Annual Meeting on October 24, 2026, at the Crowne Plaza in Plymouth. The newly elected MARS President will be installed alongside the incoming MSRT officers, strengthening collaboration between student and professional leadership as we move into the next year.

Please read the different awards and their descriptions below and consider nominating or submitting! The MSRT is proud to present a myriad of Awards each year at the Fall Educational Conference and Annual Meeting. Note: The Fall Conference in October 2022, so you still have time to enter. These awards recognize exceptional imaging technologists and student technologists. Each of the awards have certain requirements and date sensitive deadlines to be met. Technologist of the Year: Due July 15th: Technologist of the Year is awarded to a technologist who has made contributions toward the growth of the society, commitment to the profession, outstanding service to the radiologic field at his/her place or employee, through the community and/or at the state or district level. Student of the Year: Due July 15th:This meritorious award recognizes a student of radiologic technology who has exhibited outstanding service to the field of radiology by participation at his/her educational institution or in the professional societies at a district, state or national level. Patricia Daun Memorial Award: Due July 15th: This award is presented to a student technologist or radiologic technologist who displays the qualities of sincere humanity such as sensitivity, honesty, integrity, desire for continuous growth, a warm smile and a sense of humor. This technologist is truly Someone I’d want to be with!” Minnesota Society of Radiologic Technologists Scholarship: Due July 15th: This scholarship will award one (1) $1000.00 scholarship to a student currently enrolled in an accredited Radiologic Science program in the state of Minnesota and one (1) $1000.00 scholarship to a Registered Technologist enrolled in an approved advanced course of instruction in the radiologic sciences. *Remember most due dates are July 15, 2022. The new deadline is Nov. 30, 2021. The program will now begin Jan. 1, 2022 and conclude Dec. 31, 2024. This remains a three-year program.
To apply to our program students must fill out ASRT’s application by Nov. 30. (SLDP - Application (asrt.org)).

The ASRT is now accepting applications for the 2020 Student Leadership Development Program.
Students are encouraged to apply for this unique experience where you will be given the opportunity to get to know the ASRT, attend educational sessions and network with medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals.
Two (2) MSRT students will be selected by a panel of MSRT board appointed judges, and winners will be notified on or before March 1st, 2020. The winners will attend the 2020 ASRT Educational Symposium and Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting on June 24-28, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Included:
-Airfare, housing, stipend for meals and other travel expenses
-An educational program designed just for students
-A professional mentor assigned for the meeting
An insider's look into the largest association for medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals.

Complete the ASRT application. Here are the components you need to complete the application:A copy of your ASRT affiliate society membership card or verification uploaded to ASRT Volunteer Central.
An essay, also uploaded to ASRT Volunteer Central, that is 500-700 words long and answers the following questions:
How do you think you would grow professionally from your participation in the ASRT Student Leadership Development Program? How have you been active in MSRT and how do you plan to participate in the MSRT in the future?
A recommendation/permission letter stating that you have your program director's approval to attend the 2020 ASRT Educational Symposium and Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting, uploaded to ASRT Volunteer Central.
Additional criteria required by the MSRT:
Applicants must be a current MARS member (student member of the MSRT).
Program director must be a MSRT member.
Program must be accredited by the JRCERT
Applicants are strongly encouraged to present a brief synopsis of their experience at the MSRT annual conference. If unable to attend, a brief written synopsis could be shared.
